Applying for Enrollment: Grades 1-12

Bishop Ryan Catholic School is dedicated to providing students with an outstanding faith-based education. Our unique environment promotes personal and spiritual growth as well as academic success, and our goal is to inspire students of all ages to live their faith in the world.

When accepting new students, Bishop Ryan Catholic School utilizes an application process that strives to determine the best environment and needed resources to offer the highest quality education for each student. Once accepted, Bishop Ryan Catholic School reserves the right to terminate enrollment at any time if it is determined that our school is unable to provide an education with regards to the student's best interests.

The application process for students in grades 1-12 includes:
    1) Contacting or meeting with Bishop Ryan's Enrollment Director.
    2) Returning the following information to Bishop Ryan:
        a) the completed application form and any supporting forms from the registration packet
        b) a copy of the student's official birth certificate
        c) a copy of the student's current immunization record or immunization exemption
        d) a copy of the student's baptismal certificate, if applicable
        e) the non-refundable application fee
    3) The parents of the applying student(s) will be invited to a new family meeting with the Bishop Ryan
         administrative team.
    4) Upon request, an applying student may be asked to go through an assessment for proper grade and
         class placement. (Please refer to the Home Education Enrollment Policy below for more information.)
    5) Following review, timely correspondence (via phone or email) will be made regarding the acceptance
         of the student's enrollment and pertinent information.

2023-2024 School Year Transfer Application Deadlines
In order to limit classroom disruptions and to provide the best learning environment for our students and teachers, local student transfers to Bishop Ryan are limited to the beginning of the school year and the beginning of the second semester. "Local transfers" are identified as those students who apply to Bishop Ryan with a transfer from another school in the Minot vicinity.
Families and students who are just arriving to the Minot area are welcome to apply at any time of the year, and they are not limited to the local transfer entrance dates. In order to provide appropriate time to prepare for the first day, we require a minimum one-week timeline between the arrival of application forms and any potential start date, remembering that the start date will also be impacted by meeting the requirements of the application process.

Home Education Enrollment Policy
In making a determination about the enrollment and placement of students in our school, Bishop Ryan Catholic School recognizes the importance of both academic and socio-emotional maturity as factors in encouraging a productive and successful learning experience.

Bishop Ryan Catholic School typically enrolls students into grades one through twelve based upon success in previous academic experiences and with appropriate school records. Enrollment and grade placement at Bishop Ryan Catholic School for a child who has most recently been enrolled in “home education”, as referenced in North Dakota Century Code 15.1-23, will be determined upon completion of assessments coordinated by the Bishop Ryan Administrative Team. Parents will be responsible for arranging the approved screening assessment(s) and any fees associated with such assessment(s). The Bishop Ryan Administrative Team will evaluate all assessment results, making a final decision as to the acceptance and most appropriate grade level placement for student enrollment.

Following admission, all new students entering Kindergarten through 12th Grade at Bishop Ryan are subject to a one-quarter probationary period, detailed in our Family Handbook
